KOHI KOFFIE

KOHI Coffee is a specialty coffee bar inspired by Japanese culture in Haarlem. The bar is situated in ‘De Greiner’, a former domestic science academy built in 1902. The building has monumental status, so structural adjustments to the floor and ceiling are not allowed. This formed a challenge because as these were not in the best shape, but with the right interventions we turned this into an advantage to give the space a story.

The interior has a clean and warm look to match the interior with the mission of KOHI. A large U shaped bench was built as a seating area to encourage people to interact while they enjoy their coffee. The small tables can be used in various setups, or as extra seating options if a friend happens to pass by.

Coffee and other goods can be ordered at the bar build out of Radiata wood, with signing of patterned acrylic on the front. The bartop has a concrete finish, as well as the custom full red MDF table that is set at the corner of the space for larger groups.

All steel in the seating and shelving is coloured in a deep blue color to bring out the features of the interior and the original architecture.
